Condition
Sports Injury
A sports injury is a training problem, a tissue problem, and sometimes a hormone or recovery problem. Treating only the sore spot is how it comes back.
How CIHW approaches sports injury
Sports Injury in this institute
Sports medicine, rehab, and performance live in the same building. Care can move from pain control to loading to return-to-sport without sending you elsewhere.
First visit for sports injury
- 01The play, the plant, or the week the volume jumped - not a generic pain diagram.
- 02Exam of the tissue, the joint above and below, and whether you can hop, cut, or lift without compensation.
- 03A return-to-sport timeline, or an honest stop for imaging if the joint is unstable.
Injury is a loading problem
Most sports injuries we see from Algonquin, Huntley, and Crystal Lake are not a mystery diagnosis. They are a tissue that was asked to take load it was not ready for - in-season soccer, a cheer landing, a lift that stayed heavy while sleep dropped.
Care moves from pain control to loading in this building: chiropractic, physical therapy, dry needling, and return-to-sport. We do not sell a calendar of adjustments that never names the tissue.
When it is not “just sore”
Swelling, giving-way, locking, numbness, or a hit to the head is not delayed-onset muscle soreness. Those get examined before the next match.
Concussion and baseline testing sit next door to this page on purpose. A laptop test in a school library does not guide return-to-play.

Questions about Sports Injury
Still deciding? Start Here or call (224) 535-8707.
- 01
Can I train while we treat it?
Often, with a modified week. The first visit is where we say which lifts and which field work stay.
- 02
Do you see youth athletes?
Yes. Youth athletic training and concussion care are sports-medicine services here, not a separate kids clinic.
