Common soccer injuries

Soccer injuries cluster around the ankle, knee, groin, and overuse in a long season. This URL still gets residual search. The clinical answer is the same as the rest of our sports-medicine work: name the tissue, then load it on a timeline.

Lateral ankle sprains after a plant, ACL and meniscus after a cut, adductor strains in the first weeks of preseason, and anterior knee pain from volume are the five we name when someone searches “common soccer injuries.” Prevention is strength, landing mechanics, and not jumping from zero to two matches a week.

If the athlete cannot hop, cut, or strike a ball without compensation, they are not ready. We share that building with physical therapy and return-to-sport.

Is a “tweaked” knee just soreness?

Swelling, giving-way, or locking is not soreness. Get it examined before the next match.
